Fix Car Now started with a single shop, a single mechanic, and a single rule: never sell a customer something they don't need. Three locations and 1,000+ five-star reviews later, that rule hasn't changed.
In 1988, Chance Brown was tired. Tired of working at shops that pushed unnecessary repairs. Tired of watching customers get charged for parts they didn't need. So he opened his own place โ a small auto repair shop in Los Angeles with one bay, one lift, and one promise: honest work, fair prices, real warranties.
Word traveled fast. The friend-told-a-friend method worked. By 1995, that single bay had grown into a full-service mechanical and body shop. By 2010, FCN had added Century City. By 2018, West LA. And in 2022, we launched our mobile service โ bringing the same honest work directly to office parking lots across LA.
Today, Fix Car Now is still family-owned, still ASE-certified, and still operating on the same rule Chance laid down in '88. We've serviced second-generation customers โ kids who grew up watching their parents bring cars to FCN, now bringing their own. That's the trust we've earned.
We're not the cheapest shop in LA. We're not the flashiest. We're the shop your neighbor recommended โ and we plan to keep it that way.
Chance Brown opens Fix Car Now in Downtown LA. One bay, one lift, one mechanic. The rule from day one: never sell what isn't needed.
FCN expands the flagship shop to include a full body and paint operation. Lifetime warranty on body work becomes the standard.
Every technician on staff earns ASE certification. FCN becomes one of the first shops in LA where every wrench is certified.
The second FCN location opens to serve the westside. Same standards, same warranty, same Chance Brown rule.
FCN opens a third full-service shop in Culver City, specializing in body work and direct insurance billing.
FCN begins parking mobile units at major office buildings โ Wilshire Courtyard, Museum Square, Universal City Plaza.
Three shops. Four mobile units. Over a thousand five-star reviews across Yelp, Google, and Facebook. Still family-owned. Still LA.
"My grandfather was a mechanic. My dad was a mechanic. I opened FCN because I wanted to do it the way they did โ honest, fair, and with warranties that actually mean something. The team here today shares that same belief. That's why we've been around since '88."
Three operating principles that have kept FCN alive and growing for 35+ years. They're non-negotiable.
Free diagnostics on every car. We tell you exactly what's wrong โ and what isn't โ before any work begins. No upsells, no surprise add-ons.
2 years on all mechanical work. Lifetime on body and paint. If something we fixed fails, we make it right at no cost to you. Period.
Free loaner cars, free shuttle, valet pickup, mobile service. We work around your schedule โ not the other way around.
